Myofascial Release is a safe and effective set of techniques that address restrictions in the connective tissue (fascia) in order to facilitate movement free of pain and discomfort, as well as general health and wellness. Fascia is a type of connective tissue which encapsulates and supports most of the structures of the body, including all of the muscles, organs, and even bones. It is of one continuous piece, connecting all the different parts of the body in its supportive web. Therefore, restrictions in the fascia can impact the function of any part of the anatomy, sometimes even in a completely different area of the body than the restriction itself. Myofascial release encourages these restriction to soften and release by exerting a gentle, but firm and steady sustained pressure on the tissues. It can have a profound effect on tension, pain, and range of motion; as well as a large number of other concerns and conditions.
There are a number of different causes of restrictions in the fascia: inflammatory response, physical trauma, injury, surgery, emotional trauma, as well as habitual movement patterns and postural habits. Regardless of the original cause, great relief can be achieved by the skilled application of Myofascial Release techniques to the effected areas. At the same time, it simultaneously bolsters the self healing capacity of the entire body system by improving the suppleness and permeability of the connective tissue web. This in turn has a ripple effect which benefits all of the other tissues as well.
Some of the problems Myofascial Release can help with include:
-Back Pain, Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, Lumbar Injuries, Chronic Pain, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Emotional Trauma, Fibromyalgia, Frozen Shoulder, Headaches/Migraines, Neck Pain, Osteoarthritis, Plantar Fascitis, Scar Release, Sciatica, TMJ Syndrome
